So yeeeeaahh.

I just realized that I haven’t actually uploaded any photos to Flickr since July.

I’ve taken a bunch, just not uploaded. See, this is why I’m not trying 365. Nope, just wouldn’t work.

And this fits in with something I’ve realized about myself: I don’t like busy work.

Sure, I could take the pictures, but uploading them is “making license plates,” to borrow a phrase from Necronomicon. It’s detail work, and I’m just not good at that sort of thing. I like figuring out how to do things, and I like doing the tough parts, to se if it will work, but the actual details and follow through? booor-ing.

But give me an impossible task, and I’ll figure out a way to make it work. Just, you know, give me a staff to do the details.

I think I need to be in management.

So anyway, I’m gonna go process & upload like a gajillion photos now.

I picked up the “Superman: Doomsday” DVD yesterday.

Bruce Timm, of course, directed.

It was actually pretty good. It was it’s own story, but kept several elements of the comic version. They didn’t pull in a lot of the stuff from the comics, like Doomsday wiping the floor with the JLA, or the other three Supermen. And I’m kinda glad they didn’t. I’m usually happy when animated or live-action versions of comics stry away from the source material, but really? To have brought all that in to a 75-minute cartoon would have been impossible, and confusing. It would have confused and alienated a lot of the show’s target audience. I never really watched the cartoon series, so I don’t know how this fits in with that. But all-in-all, the DVD was a good watch, and stood well on its own. In many ways, I liked it better than the comics.

The good?
-”Who’s the rocker?”
-Lois’ reporter skills towards Clark
-Pulling Jimmy away from the club :-)
-”I was the Smallville Spelling Bee Champiion”
-The whole thing.

The Bad?
-Lois’ head is too big for her body. Nitpick.
-They try a little too hard to make Lex evil.
-Superman/Clark Kent’s cheekbones.
-Not much else.

Also, a tiny warning: his is not for very young children. The death count is high for an animated comic-book-based film (10+ shown on-screen by my recollection), and at least two of them are cold-blooded murders. And one instance of mild profanity (the “A” word, if you’re morbidly curious). Definitely more mature than other superhero adaptations. PG-13.

Random connection thingy: James Marsters, who voiced Lex Luthor in the DVD, also played Professor Milton Fine (Brainiac) in the Smallville TV series.

“You remind me of the baby.”
“What baby?”
“The baby with the power.”
“What power?”
“Power of Voodoo.”
“Who do?”
“You do.”
“Do what?”
“Remind me of the baby …”

Please tell me that I misunderstood the trailer, and that he doesn’t really build the first suit overnight. My suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

And, Ryan, sorry, but I’d have been disappointed if they *hadn’t* used the song.
