I know a guy in this band (the bassist) and they’re in a competition for the soundtrack for a video game. If they win, they could also get a recording contract or something.

So go rank Orpheus really high, and rank a bunch of other bands really low.

Here’s the original post they sent me:

Hello Friends!

And We Will Also Get A Virgin Records Demo Recording Contract! We Need Your Help Friends, Please Forward This On To Your Friends And Tell Them To Forward As Well. Thanks Alot For Your Support!

C’mon, go stuff those ballots! Orpheus actually has a really good chance of winning if we all help them!

I decided to search for a SIP (Statistically Improbable Phrase, terminology swiped from Amazon) that I had posted in a blog, just to see if I could make my blog pop up in the search results over at Technorati. It’s kind of like Googleing your own name. Purely an exercise in vanity.

There are a lot of posts about “Beef Jerky.” I had recently posted my own recipe and I figured not too many people would post about dehydrated cow. The internet, however, is very, very big.

Anyway, While playing around at Technorati, I saw this chart of blog posts tagged with “Beef Jerky” in the past 90 days. Interestingly, around the middle of January, there was a rather large spike in Beef Jerky posts.

Did I miss something?

Was there, like, a convention or something? The E3 of dehydrated meat snacks? National Beef Jerky Day?

Seriously. Now instead of being original, random, and cool, my beef jerky recipe post just looks like I came a month and a half late to the party.

Incidentally, I’m pretty sure there’s no National Beef Jerky Day. I checked.

We should start one.

[Updated: Fixed it! Thanks anyway!]

Halp!

Any technical-minded people out there interested in helping me figure out why I can’t get my Palm T|X to connect to my Samsung m500 via bluetooth and use the Internet?

The devices will talk to each other enough to send contacts and files and stuff, and I can use the internet on my phone just fine.

I have Sprint’s unlimited data plan for phone-as-modem. I can connect my laptop via USB cable (no BT on my laptop though) and get online that way just fine.

Any advices?

UPDATE:
Yatta! Seems as though I had to set up my phone pairing, and then immediately thereafter set up my DUN connection. Which is really odd. I’d set up my pairing back in January when I got my phone. And re-set-it-up many many times just in case I’d done something wrong. And I’d set up my DUN connection. Just not at the same time, I guess. Huh. Odd. At any rate, I can now go online with my PDA via my phone. And my PDA is much more convenient to carry around than my laptop, especially if I am travelling lite.

Mobile bloggin’ must be next. Whoo. All this new-fangled technology stuff makes my head spin.

I didn’t take this. The photographer is -gadgetgirl- on Flickr. I don’t know her.

This is the kind of portrait I’d like to be able to take.

Just kinda makes you want to go “Awwww…”
